Matt is an in-demand industry professional with over 16 years of experience as a composer, educator, and musician. He has worked with, and written for, acclaimed Juno winners & top artists around the world. He has performed for several celebrities and politicians including PM Justin Trudeau, French PM Gabriel Attal, Pres. of the EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and countless others. Since completing his Masters, Matt has co-produced two full-length albums, opened a private music studio, and is looking to release a full-length album in the new year.

What is your attendance policy?
Currently, I account for two absences in my Term fee in the form of two “free” bonus lessons at the end of the term. Otherwise, I do not offer makeup lessons for missed lessons.
What is your rescheduling policy?
Requests must be made at least 24hrs in advance of the original lesson time for consideration but, due to limited availability, there is no guarantee that the request will be accommodated.
What is your early withdrawal policy?
Sorry to see you go! For an early withdrawal, I refund 50% the value of the remaining lessons (not including the bonus lessons).
What is your sickness policy?
Students and family/friends showing signs of illness will not be permitted in the studio and will be turned away. I always have online lessons available for such situations. Otherwise, the lesson will be forfeited and will not be rescheduled.
How do you charge for commission work?
My payment structure is based on an hourly rate of $100-150/hr (depending on the kind of work entailed), and the estimate will be broken down completely in a shared document. Quotes will be free and not included in the work hours. Meetings will count toward billable hours and rounded up to the nearest half-hour.
How do you charge for live music?
I charge based on an hourly rate per musician + travel costs (more than 30 minutes drive from downtown Ottawa, ON) + a $100 administration fee. If a PA is requested, that will cost an additional $100 fee.
